STARTED.
Before the newer projects, the white Mk7 GTI was the car at the beginning of the Lakache Auto story — a fully restored 2017 GTI Autobahn and the foundation for what the garage became.
ONE CAR.
A BIGGER IDEA.
The white Mk7 GTI became more than a finished project. It was the early proof of the idea behind Lakache Auto: take on the work, learn through the process and document the story around the car.
That approach eventually expanded into more rebuilds, DIY repairs and long-term ownership stories. The projects changed, but the idea that started here stayed the same.
MK7 TO
MK8.
Years later, the blue 2024 GTI Autobahn brought the story back to the same nameplate in a newer generation. That made the finished Mk8 more meaningful than a standalone rebuild.
The two cars became bookends in the Lakache Auto story: the white Mk7 where the journey started and the blue Mk8 showing how far the builds had progressed.
THE FIRST
CHAPTER.
Not every important project has to be the newest, most expensive or most complicated. The Mk7 matters because it represents the beginning — the car connected to the earliest chapter of Lakache Auto.
As the garage grows, this GTI remains part of the identity behind the channel and the website: cars, builds and the life created around them.
